Innovative solutions for the biomanufacturing sector
In the biopharmaceutical sector, innovative optics solutions play a key role in new vaccine and novel drug development. In both process control in biomanufacturing, such as bioreactors, as well as analytical equipment, such as, flow cytometers, High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and blood related systems such as photopheresis or automated QC in transfusion, etc…
In cell therapy, various optical techniques are used for non-invasive or in-line monitoring of the production process. Advanced spectroscopic and simpler imaging solutions can provide insight in the critical process parameters, allowing monitoring, optimizing and controlling the process more accurately. Optics based process control ensures the best Advanced Therapy Medical Products (ATMPs) will be delivered to the patient at the right time with the best predictable curing impact. Thus significantly improving the chances of recovery in chronic diseases such as cancer.
In Vitro Devices
Our perception of IVD solutions are also rapidly changing, fast moving outside the hospital all over the global medical value chain in multiple forms. More and more IVD tools will be used at prescribing physicians, medical analysis laboratories, pharmacies and even at home or in rural and low income settings for faster, more accessible and easier diagnostics. New biological detection methods, such as CRISPR-based diagnostics, in combination with lab-on-a-chip compatibility and more advanced technologies, such as ddPCR, are becoming more accessible and rely on optical techniques for its effective implementation.
